There is also a Needle Case swap, bring them wrapped and join in gift opening.

Do bring a Fat Quarter for the Lucky Draw collection.

If you have done something for the Colour Pop challenge we'd love to see it.

Productive quilters with their quilt tops

It is always lovely to see the work our fellow members produce. Below are some completed tops, ready for the next stage.

Cheryl has made this especially for her lucky grandson Harry.

Nel has made this for her Nana who is currently in John James Hospital

The four gift quilts have been made out of the suitcase, where a collection of donated fabrics reside. After quilting by the wonderful Kay at Kay's Quilts the quilts will be found a good home.

Block Arranging Practice

At the Beginners Class, these club blocks were used to practice arrangements in pleasing configurations. Eventually, these will be finalised and sewn together. Any interested club member is welcome to take some home and play.  They can add feature blocks, sashing, borders or whatever they find adds appeal to the blocks. Otherwise you will see them from time to time on Friday nights.
Happy Sewing!

Queanbeyan Quilters Inc - Beginner Class 2014

The Beginners Class is going wonderfully, in three weeks they have covered Tools and Equipment in the first lesson, Colour, Palette and Fabric in the second lesson and then in the third class everyone got very excited cutting and sewing Blocks.

The Beginners are improving their knowledge giving them a solid foundation to start their quilting adventure.

There will be six lessons in all after which everyone will be ready to take it further with workshops and working from inspiring books, magazines and patterns.

Keep up the good work everyone.

Gifts of Fabric

Following two recent donations of lovely patchwork fabric, the club is gearing up to make lots of gift quilts or quilted items for a number of worthy causes. Anything from place mats, table runners, cot quilts right up to bed quilts can be expected. There was a nice collection of Christmas fabric; there are some bright I-spy fabrics for children's quilts. The magazines have already gone up to the club on Friday night and several members found good patterns for quilts in them. (The cat is an added extra, she has to know and be into everything that's going on.)

Monday 8 September 2014

Finally finished, some quilts can take years to make.

Chris was very happy to put the final stitch in her binding last Friday night. This Stack 'n Whack quilt was started many years ago when Queanbeyan Quilters still met at the Guide Hall. Which was well before 2000. Now since everything that is old is new again, the quilt still seems fresh and perfectly pink. Hope the recipient really enjoys it. Kay's Quilts did a lovely job, as always, on the quilting.

June Meeting Night

QQ Inc held its June meeting last Friday night at Letchworth. It was well attended, with much lively discussion about numerous issues the Members are involved in and some preparation for next month's AGM. Our speaker was Helen Worth who talked a bit about how she got started and continued with her embroidery.

She had lots of samples to show us of what she has done and expressed willingness to show anyone how to do it themselves.

During
Show and Tell, some members showed what they had made during Moni's demonstration of the Fractured Quilt.

Julie Herring showed some of her innovative course work she's been doing.

Thanks to Kay White, there were lots of gift quilts to show, all quilted now and with bindings machine-sewn on ready for members to take home and in their own time hand-sew the binding to the back. There is no rush to return them ladies, we know you lead busy lives. The meeting broke for people to collect a drink and some of the abundant supper available while they continued to look at Helen's work and chat amongst themselves.
