Queanbeyan Quilters have begun the year full of plans and energy. The committee got together to hatch some plans and ideas. The Thursday daytime drop-in session on the 21st was lightly attended but no less lively for that. The first meeting of the year was on the 22nd and the activities for the year were approved and dates for our sessions set. They are now in the Calendar section of this blog. Essentially, we get together on the second and fourth Friday evening in the month and the Thursday morning immediately preceding the fourth Friday.
The club will have activity or technique nights on the second Friday night in the month slot. The first activity will be sewing last year's Stay at Home blocks together into a quilt, with Narell directing. In March, the Seminole technique will be demonstrated by Cassandra. Requirements for both will be emailed to members.
Members were encouraged to make more darling things that every woman would want for Mothers Day and items that anyone would want anytime. We will probably have a stall at The Queanbeyan Market in March and April, selling raffle tickets and whatever we all manage to make for it. I hope our friends out there in the community will visit us to buy or chat about quilting.
You may have noticed that we have had a display in the shop windows of Queanbeyan's Riverside Plaza. With permission to keep it filled for a few months, the Quilters have decided to refresh it each month, attach some details on the quilts and have a rolling Exhibition of members' work. If you haven't already, do go and check out the work. A closer look is well worth it.
