Time For A Very Modern Mystery

This year's block of the month has been unveiled and it is Time For A Very Modern Mystery. The group decided to go with a modern theme, in a limited palette of colours based upon a local artist's work. Here are some printed cards by Jodie Cunningham which are based upon Canberra wild flowers. Such clear, cheerful colours, are just what we need this year. Notice, there is no aqua in the palette. We used that up last year.

For Block 1, kits of colour pieces were cut to make orange peel blocks. If enough blocks are made, it will be possible to make a modern gift quilt each month. Members are encouraged to mix up the layout of their 16" modern block. Not everyone wants to use plain fabric in these colours: for their own quilt, there are templates to cut their fabric. It will be interesting to see what the group makes over the next few months. These are the blocks made so far.
