Thursday Drop-in, Friday Meeting night for August, Canberra Craft & Quilt Fair

This is a busy week for Queanbeyan Quilters.

Twelve of us attended a two night workshop on quilt-as-you-go techniques with Pauline from Quilters World. We had lots of preparation to do and this made it easy to get sewing and gluing as required for the class.

The Quilt As You Go class

Thursday morning the 21st August is drop-in morning at the RB Smith Community Centre in Crawford Street where a friendly group meet up to work on projects, get ideas and share knowledge. All welcome.

Friday night the 22nd August is meeting night for Queanbeyan Quilters. 7 for 7.30 start. Bring fat quarters for the draw, bring little red and white quilts to be loaned out for a short time.

From Thursday till Sunday you can visit the Canberra Craft & Quilt Fair out at Exhibition Park to see the wonderful quilts, sales room, vendors, workshops and talks.

See you at them all!

Another Fractured Block

Here is another of our Member's blocks, after our Fractured Block/Quilt night. Cheryl has used a lovely fabric to create her block and plans to add some others to make a gorgeous cushion. Look forward to seeing it all finished.

Made by Cheryl following our Fractured Block demo night.

This week's activities

Drop-in day this Thursday 7th at the RB Smith Centre in Crawford Street, 9.30-12.30.

Soup night this Friday 8th at Letchworth, bring a mug and sit back with some soup, 7-10pm.

Here are a few links, as promised, for the Aussie Hero Quilts (and laundry bags). I can supply fabric if you are short of it. Kay has very kindly offered to quilt them for anyone who makes them. The site has links to information about the composition and size of the quilts and detailed instructions for the laundry bags. There are also lots of photos of quilts already sent out and some useful block instructions.
